I have the best job in the world. Working in the warm summer air with clear blue skies, 70’ in the air cranking reggae and spraying art on the walls with the help from Cody Swinkels was just pure bliss.
This mural for UBC properties Trust was done in record time. 3 days! 7 stories high.
We had a bit of a scare yesterday after discovering hydraulic oil leakage under our 85’ diesel boom but we just forged ahead hoping for the best. Thankfully we didn’t need the fire dept to rescue us from the boom.
More video and photos to come but we’re still buzzing from the joy of painting in the sky for the past 3 days.
I was really happy to have had finished this mural in time for BC Day where I was able to unwind and spend quality time with my wife and kids yesterday.
I went back to the site this morning to get proper photos with my Nikon and do a quick fun shoot with Matteo Welsh. Matteo brought out his drone and got footage of me working on the boom (I actually missed a tiny spot). Can’t wait to see the final video!
The mural stands 70′ tall by 20′ wide and is located at 6111 University Blvd. If you’d like to check it out in person.
Here are a bunch of shots I took with my trusty Nikon D600 using the Nikkor 85mm F1.4 and Nikkor 50mm F1.8.
