Restless and sleepless in Hong Kong tonight.

Feeling restless on our last night in Hong Kong before we head back to Vancouver tomorrow I went out to take a few long exposures by the waterfront in SOHO East. Lugging only a gorilla pod and a Nikkor 50mm F1.4 I snapped a few exposures ranging from 5 to 20 second shots and quickly doodled on them on my iPad. What a time to be alive! I’ll also be heading to Toronto the next day for a client meeting on Tuesday. Too many time zones in such a short period of time can’t be good.

We’re super stoked to have signed on with Not Normal Content as they’ll be representing us in the U.S., Mexico and Canada. We have a ton of new projects in the works that we’re excited to share once we settle back in Vancouver next month. Stay tuned for more updates!

Carson’s bio on Not Normal:
A modern day artist, he’s a designer, muralist, animator & art director all rolled into one. Boasting a signature style, he puts eye-catching designs on everything from walls to shoes to bikes. He’s hand illustrated an entire car and created animated characters with quirky on-screen personalities (a bit like his moniker Chairman Ting).

Working out of his Vancouver studio, Carson’s palette is bright and oh so bold having delivered projects for global clients such as: Sid Lee, Mercedes-Benz Daimler AG, adidas, Originals, Microsoft, NHL and The Webby Awards.

75 year old Chinese lady is more of a grandmaster than a grandma.

Met this lady practicing her art one early morning in a park in Hong Kong and had to ask if she could let me snap a few shots. These are the results. Mrs. Wong is 75 years old and after seeing her moves, I’m convinced she can make Jackie Chan run for cover. There’s absolutely no doubt that the future is female. Read More »

Japan never fails to present photo opps for us. Here’s a small sample of shots we took during our week in all three cities. We processed over 200 shots in over 2 days with Adobe Lightroom.

We’re currently in Hong Kong meeting with several agencies until the 27th. Our local number is 5138 6517 if you’d like to connect over coffee or a pint of beer.
Keep checking this space for more updates and photos of Japan and Hong Kong. Read More »

Osaka, Kobe and Kyoto! We’re coming for you.

The cold and rain have finally arrived in Vancouver and we’re leaving just in time. We are heading off to Japan for the second time this year. We’ll be spending a week in Kobe, Kyoto and Osaka and then finally to Hong Kong for the rest of the month. Super stoked about all the places we’ll see while building up a new library of photos for our own references and a specially curated collection will be for Getty.

Every little blog post that goes up gives me so much energy to create and illustrate just for fun. This small set of illustrations took me roughly 3 hours in total using my Apple iPad Pro and Pencil and then I’d colour and finalize in Illustrator. I’ll be working abroad for a new client based out in Calgary called Bro’Kin Yolk. Pretty stoked about this new illustration project. Keep visiting this space or follow us on Instagram!
