A year in review: 2020 (AKA Dumpster Fire)

Well, what can we say? 2020 is definitely a year we’ll never forget. With a normal start of the year that quickly turned weird and at times even stranger than fiction.

Early on when the pandemic started to hit Canada in March, we had projects put on hold and even cancel on us, but as with change comes opportunity. Our proudest moment to come out of the year was definitely our collaboration with the Vancouver Whitecaps. We were very eager to flex our creative muscles for the greater good, to help out on a great cause. So when we got the call from the Vancouver Whitecaps we were all in.

Our ‘It Takes a Village‘ art print helped raise over $140,000 for the Greater Vancouver Food Bank. Although the year started with some uncertainty, it didn’t take long before projects started firing up again which included ridiculously fun ones like the Snoop Dogg x 19 Crime’s Cali-red launch, Kabam new HQ art installation, FOX suspension apparel art, NFB’s instagram based project called First Photo Here, Toyota Supra art install, SFU’s Beedie Mural art install, Vancouver Mural fest and much more.

Also, a very notable highlight was all the opportunities to collaborate with so many amazing human beings such as the peeps in the collective studio like Hubert Kang, Annie Chen, Aiken Lao and Leah Gregg.

For 5 years straight, I’ve been putting together these short and silly year-end videos to recap all the work we’ve done. Here it is, the mega dumpster fire year, 2020. Hope you dig it. Catch you all in a (hopefully better) year, 2021.

365 days in 60 seconds. Yup, It’s that time of the year again and without missing a beat, here’s our year-end video for 2018. We’ve been cranking these out at the end of the year since 2013.

Hands down, 2018 has been our best year yet and we can’t wait to dive right into 2019. We have lots loaded up for the new year and we can’t wait to show you what we’ve been working on. Moving into Hubert and Annie’s beautiful studio in the westend this past year has proven to be the best decision we’ve made. And to top that off, we also got a kick-ass Studio Manager named Aiken Lao helping all of us out in 2019.
PEACE OUT 2018.

Over the past 3 years since I became an independent creative by freelancing as an art director and building my own roster of clients as an illustrator and designer, I began this tradition of summarizing each professional year with short videos highlighting all the projects I’ve worked on and my achievements.

Every time I finish one of these videos I feel incredibly moved to do even bigger and better work for next year. I also take a moment to look back and be grateful to everyone that has helped make my year a real blast.

2015 was the most rewarding year to date! Here’s to bigger and better things in 2016!
