I am extremely grateful for all the shine I’ve been getting with all the projects I’ve been working on through my studio. Last week Herschel Supply put out a feature for Annie Chen and I through their Instagram stories.
Our mural titled ‘Westend Bestend’ features everything that defines the Westend. In particular, my mural features Joe Fortes (A prominent figure in the early history of Vancouver, and the city’s first official lifeguard.) heading west towards English Bay and a great blue Heron taking flight while Annie’s mural is made up of beautiful patterns and cute tiny critters. Both murals converge at the tip of Nelson and Nicola with a two-faced raccoon which you’ll need to see in person for the full effect.
Big thanks to the Herschel Supply team for coming out to document our work and for the interview. Visit @herschelsupply on Instagram stories to go through our entire interview.
Really excited to be sharing this project @firstphotohere as it’s been in the works for 8-9 months with our studio collective (Hubert Kang, Leah Gregg, Annie Chen and Aiken Lao) Our latest collab with the NFB is an Instagram based project that focusses on new arrivals to Canada and the first photos they share with family and friends back home. Linking people across time and place, this project represents a wide array of new experiences and first impressions.
This is one of many illustrations we created for the project. This particular piece for Neha. This illustration is based on their first photo they took when they arrived in Canada Patna, India. Head over to @FirstPhotoHere for the full story and other amazing stories.
Curated by Joella Cabalu, First Photo Here is for anyone who has moved somewhere new and knows the thrill and trepidation that goes along with it. By turning personal stories into collective ones, we’re all invited to share in the richness of these moments and the connections they forge.
If you’d like to submit your photo and story, email firstphotohere@nfb.ca with the photo and a caption that includes your home country and the story (e.g. where it was taken, who you shared it with, what you were feeling at the time, how you feel about it now, etc.).

I’m super stoked to have been invited by the Mercedes-Benz global team to create an illustration piece to help celebrate their 3 millionth follower on Instagram. The creative brief was wide open and the only mandatory was to use an image of the C-Class Coupé that they had supplied from Stuttggart, Germany.
Here are a few behind the scenes photos. Read More »
